Te Moorea Club Sports Association, has been set up under the Association Act 1901, and was officially registered on 26 April 1994.
Since August 2002, its aim has been to promote sport-tourism on the island of Moorea, Tahiti's sister island in French Polynesia. Our action lies within the framework of promoting sporting activities that enable exchanges between French Polynesia and the rest of the world. Sport development on the island is also good for the well-being of Moorea's inhabitants and allows the combination of tourism and physical activity.
Te Moorea Club is an affiliated member of the French Polynesian Athletics Federation and of the Tahitian Triathlon Federation.
Through its aim to promote sport, Te Moorea Club is constantly seeking new members and organising new sporting events. It is in charge of the following events: International Marathon, Exotic Raid, Painapo Raid (mountain run), Mount Rotui Tour (15km) and Green Triathlon. Those events are run thanks to the support of the relevant Ministries, the municipality of Moorea-Maiao, partners from the administration and from associations of the island, and also the valuable contribution of sponsors.
Since 13 May 2006, Tahiti-Moorea marathon has been twinned with Hero Drôme & Nature marathon. This sporting alliance, which has created links between athletes of Moorea and of Crest, in the Drôme region of France, aims at promoting exchanges between French Polynesia and mainland France and at developing marathon events for the benefit of all.
